Agape: a Greek word meaning self-sacrificial love with no expectation of return.
The vision for Agape Art began in 2004, following Becky Palmieri's initial visit to Rainbow Village orphanage in Dumaguete City, The Philippines. She was overwhelmed by the creativity and potential of the beautiful teenage girls in need of healing, hope, and mentoring. Through numerous occasions of divine intervention, the vision became clear to develop a 2-week intensive art ministry camp to take to the girls at Rainbow Village.
It is through the proceeds from the sale of artwork from local artists that she and a team of other Jesus-loving artists will return. We hope to continue this program annually through the sale of the artwork created by the Agape girls. We are excited to encourage these young women in their creativity, while teaching them a way in which their gifts can contribute to sustainability in their futures.
