Introducing the 2009 Agape Art Team! Join us in Prayer!

Please join us for a small prayer send-off gathering in Room 130 at Vineyard Community Church at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15th.

As our departure date of Friday, April 17th approaches, we've been busy preparing ourselves personally, spiritually, and artistically.  We're so to see what the Lord has in store for this team and all those that we will soon meet at Rainbow Village in the Philippines.

 

Agape Art needs your help!

These past couple months of my journey in Agape Art have been full of blessings from the Lord mixed with many trials of the heart.  As I shared just a couple months ago as 2009 began, I've felt the Lord leading me a new direction with Agape Art this year.  That new leading has led to lots of continued prayer on my part as well as inviting others to pray along with me.  Please continue to pray for me as I seek to be in-tune with the Lord's plans for the direction of the Agape Art program.  One big change is that we will not be hosting a large fundraising art show event this year.  The Lord has challenged me to use time and resources differently this year, including some other creative and common ways of raising funds, while focusing more heavily on the team selection and preparation for this next trip. 

 

With that said, our need for funding is still quite great!  We are hitting a crucial crunch time, in that we should be purchasing plane tickets within the next 10 days!.  The total cost per person is approximately $2000 each.  Over 3/4 of that amount is needed for airfare, while the remainder helps with our expenses in the Philippines including all the art supplies needed to run the art camp for the Agape girls.  We like to think of our fundraising as a team effort.  Although we do have some of our funds in place, as a team we are less that half-way to our goal.  We need your help!

 

We are all certainly feeling this economic crunch together, and extra money seems like a thing of the past.  Although extra money may be something you don't have, I ask you to at least consider making a small donation which may include a small sacrifice such as one less dining out occassion or something else that is significant but not always necessary to you. In seeking the Lord’s voice and direction, I firmly know that He still wants me in this and that he’s not done with Agape Art just yet, so here I am “just asking”.  If you have any room in your budget, I humbly request a donation of any size.  If everyone who reads this were to give even just $15.00 by March 12th, we would be well on our way to empowering the lives of the teenage girls at Rainbow Village in 2009.

Hello Friends of Agape Art-

We've had a great year of ministry in 2008 and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in 2009!  I would appreciate your prayers as we are navigating through some transitions including a shift in leadership at Rainbow Village in the Philippines, and a new focus of our fundraising efforts on the homefront.  In 2009, we may scale down some of the large art show events to focus more on online sales via our store at Etsy.com (www.agapeart.etsy.com), as well as focus on finding avenues for the young Agape Girls to create and sell their artwork locally in souvenir shops year round.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2009 Agape Art Mission Trip to the Philippines!  We are aiming for trip dates of April 17-30th this year in effort to hit the Philippines at the beginning of their summer which may make the girls' schedule a little easier to work with.  I do understand that this may present some challenges on the state side, as it is not during our summer.  Please pray for the Lord's continued provision of these dates and that these dates would not discourage participants that may be being called to be a part of this special ministry opportunity.  Due to the earlier dates, we also need to form our team as quickly as possible.  The application priority deadline is January 28th!

Who should apply for this trip? 

·         Have you felt the Lord leading your heart towards missions?

·         Are you interested in serving the Lord by loving his beautiful children that may not have families?

·         Are you an artist looking for an opportunity to share your talents for a bigger purpose?

·         Do you just love to do arts and crafts?  Would you be able to teach young girls that are eager to learn new forms of arts and crafts?

My favorite memories from each trip are those of the Agape Girls telling me how much they love for us to come to love on them, to play with them, and to teach them so many new things that they would otherwise not have learned.  For some of them who are particularly gifted in the area of art, this is the one opportunity all year for them to develop their skills and be challenged in this area.  Please consider sharing your love and your gifts with these eager young learners.

Thanks so much for your continued support!  It's so encouraging to come in contact with many of you who have been praying for us and the Agape Girls along the way.  Thank you for allowing us to be used by Him to be a blessing in the lives of these teenagers.  During our last visit to Rainbow Village Orphanage in the Philippines, my thoughts were on you each time a sweet young girl thanked me for being there to love them, share Jesus with them, and to teach them new art skills.  Thank you for the impact you have had on their lives as well as mine.  We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
